Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television reporter, commentator and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), situated in Washington DC. She became a Washington general reporter with NBC News two years later. Beginning in 1981 she began covering the White House. In 1988 she became the head of the congressional reporters. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992. And Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell participated on the TV show Meet the Press and also was the host for the program. Mitchell was on an audience for the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded numerous times for her journalism achievements, such as her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. The award was presented to her with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell was a reporter at the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news reports, including weapons control, budget taxes as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to numerous summits in the company of the President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
